Precious Gems Of Wisdom Mahatama Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi
Compiled by Karishma Bajaj

The Plot-
Mohandas  Karamchand Gandhi, often referred to as 'Bapu', 'mahatma' and also titled 'Father of the Nation', grew up into being one of the most important people in the world history. He was one of the most important people in world history. He was the one one who led India to her freedom from the British rule.
And yes, his battle was bereft of violence.
As he found his place among the immortals, his words continue to impact and inspire our lives. This compilation brings together the extremely valuable gems of wisdom Mahatma offered to the world in the form of quotes and sayings on different topics...

Character I liked-
This book is devoid of characters, but it is filled with eternal knowledge!

Why I want others to read this book-
This book is a survival guide for not only an Indian, but people of all countries. It touches borders of all - spirituality, non violence, truth, brotherhood, the ideal way of life, hard work, determination, genuinity and sincerity....and bundles of more diamonds in eternal knowledge. It can be a life turning point too.

Creative suggestions I would like to incorporate-
This book is filled with thoughts, quotes and sayings of Mahatma Gandhi, but it would be better if it consisted of short stories from his life too...

The Secret

Rhonda Byrne

The Plot-

The Secret has been passed down through the ages... coveted, hidden, lost, stolen, bought for vast sums of money, and known by some of the most exceptional people who ever lived: Plato, Galileo, Da Vinci, Beethoven, Edison, and Einstein, to name but a few.

The Secret is a very different book. It hasn't got a story, and it is about self help. Here's a gist of it-The Secret book reveals how you can change every aspect of your life. You can turn any weakness of suffering into strength, power, unlimited abundance, health and joy. Everything is possible, nothing is impossible. There are no limits. Whatever you can dream of can be yours, when you use The Secret.

The Characters I liked-
This book has no characters as such, it only has the author relating  to different stories to make the reader understand the laws of the universe, the concepts of the book...

Why I want others to read this book-
This book is the mantra of success in life. Once you read it and imply it in your life, all your dreams will come true...and you won't believe it! I dont want to discuss more about this book, but I actually want to read it so you can discover the greatest SECRET of the wide world...

P.S.-There's no need of ANY improvement in it, it is above the PERFECT!

Dollar Bahu

Sudha Murthy

The Story-

The beautiful and golden singer,Vinuta, marries Girish, a bank clerk. after her elder brother in law who is settled in the U.S., married Jamuna, a rich girl of rich family, Vinuta's place and respect in the family deteriorates, and she bears the constant comparisons between her, and Jamuna, the 'Dollar Bahu' by Gouramma, their mother in law.

When Gouramma decides to visit the U.S.,  she finds out how liberating life can be, without the strict rules in Indian family life. she also realizes, that only dollars cannot buy the love and respect she gets back in her hometown. She realizes how in the U.S, the elders are not respected as in India.

But, now can Vinuta and Gauramma forget the past and make a new beginning of their relationship?

The Characters I liked-

I really liked Shamanna, Girish and Chandru's daddy, because he was a very good person, and he knew that love was greater than money. He was well-off, but simple and never believed in show off. He was like a saint, very calm and peaceful with a crystal clear mind.

I want others to read this book too because-

This because describes a very common household scene, where the kids settled abroad are respected more than others, and the wives of the ones settled in their own hometown are underestimated and discriminated too because the children in abroad rise the family name and also earn in Dollars or any other currency, which makes the family well off. But, in abroad, elders are not paid heed and respected like that in India. It says that Love and Respect is more valuable than Money.

Creative suggestions I would like to incorporate:

The book is almost perfect, and it does not need any changes, but, I would like to say that the stories have a certain similarity and uniformity, and you will enjoy reading them if you do not know about Indian culture, but if an Indian is reading this story, he may fell it to be a very normal story. But, Sudha Murthy is an excellent writer and I just love reading her books...

Gently falls the Bakula

Sudha Murthy

The Story-
Shrimati Deshpande and Shrikant Deshpande are the most intelligent kids of their school. Though they are neighbours, they never converse or play with each other because of the rivalry between their ancestors being carried on with their children. However, soon Shrikant and Shrimati become friends and start meeting each other daily, which intimely turns into love.

Though passing with exellent marks in her SSC, Shrimati joins an art college, because she is fantasised by the subject History. After Engineering, Shrikant is posted in the U.S., where they continue with writing to each other.

Soon Srikant and Shrimati marry each other crossing the barriers of their families, where Shrimati had to listen to constant picking of her sister in law, Rama and mother in law Gangakka. When they return to the U.S., where Shrikant is engrossed in his work having no time for Shrimati, who renounces her career  and becomes a obedient wife serving her husband.

Soon after a talk with Mike Collins, she decides to break her silence and talk about her problem to Shrikant...But will Shrikant understand her? Will he find time for her out of his busy schedule? Or will Shrimati do something unconventional for an Indian wife?

The Characters I Liked -

I like professor Mike Collins the most, because he was a true person, a philosopher and Scholar, and a very good person, who had the real identity to aptitude. He is  person who is following his dreams and a very knowledgeable person.

I want others to read this book because-

This book has a deep moral to it. It conveys that even women have their own life and have full right to live it. Women should not accept domination by men and should thrive towards their own goals rather that confining themselves into the nutshell of their homes, however rich they may be. A must read for Indian Women.

Creative suggestions I would like to incorporate-

I would like to give it a different twist to the story, and give it a happy ending and mutual understanding between the couple. they should have shown support by Shrikant at the end, to prove that Indian men can lend support and understand their wives too.

Revolution 2020

Chetan Bhagat

The Story-
This story revolves around a Love Triangle between Gopal Mishra, Raghav Mishra and Aarti Pradhan , who are three childhood friends. Gopal uses his hard work to become successful and rich by help of a fraud MLA, but Raghav uses his intelligence and hard work it to change the country, start a revolution...

but, Both love the same girl...

This is a nerve-gripping story about the clash of the two old friends for success as well as the same girl, Aarti. Gopal uses all his power to bankrupt Raghav, and Raghav uses all his power to shame Gopal in front of the country. Who will win this war?Who will succeed?Who will remember old friendship and humanity?

Now its up to you to find out...

The Characters I like-
I like Aarti Pradhan the most because she is the one who is soft hearted and kind. She is a true friend, and she will never make anyone feel bad. she cradles and handles her relationship with both the boys very carefully and delicately too.

I want others to read the book because-
This story is really good and wants us to explore more and more into the book. This story also reflects that however bad you think a person may be, but all have the same pure soul inside them and will surely realize in one day.

Creative suggestion I would like to incorporate:
The author should have shown a happy ending  for ll of the three, rather than the gloom of any one. He should also have incorporated a bit of more cheer in the book, rather than gloom, and he should have not shown the betrayal of love, relationships, family and friendship in the story too.
